The Lost Meander wants to make sure that you get out anytime of the day… and night! This Friday through early morning Saturday it seems like the famous Halley’s Comet will be giving us a show. No unfortunately it won’t be the actual comet which was last seen in 1986. Instead as it is making its long journey we will get to see the peak of the Orionid Meteor Shower. This is the dust and debris that actually remains in the inner solar system by yes that’s right you guessed it Halley’s Comet.
What does that mean to us? Not only do we want you to get outside and enjoy that late cool air but also look up to the sky! This will be an amazing site to see as there will be between 10-20 “shooting stars” each hour. As you check out the nights sky you will be able to see the shooting stars with the naked eye. If you feel so inclined with many of the upcoming stargazing opportunities (Hunter’s Moon- Oct. 28, Leonid Meteor Shower Nov. 17-18th) I recommend the Gskyer Telescope. Not only is it easy to set up, but you can attach a cell phone and look at a much larger screen. Either was get outside, lay on a blanket, grab something to drink and enjoy the night’s sky.
