Well, it is Sunday and time to take inventory of the last week. It was a good week enjoying the cold weather, going to the capitol and relaxing with a few days off work. The interesting part about going to the DC area was visiting a small restaurant in Tacoma Park. I heard about it on Facebook when a high school friend opened it pre-covid and survived through it. I am all about supporting small business and their success. Let me tell you that that The Girl and the Vine does not disappoint. Nestled in Tacoma Park this charming wine and I would say sandwich shop boasts an amazing selection of wines to both connoisseurs and casual enthusiasts. Besides the hearty list of wines for every type of palate, there is the food. The innovative cheese plates, to vegetarian dishes, but the Gambino sandwich stood out to me. Lets just say … AMAZING! From the prosciutto to the rosemary ham on a toasted roll this was such a great sandwich. The simple things like a great sandwich can always make the day better.
As I sit here drinking my Kauai coffee I am reminded of no matter what people, families, and society goes through in times of good and bad, life still goes on. The Girl and the Vine was presented with tough times like many places during covid and came out on top. There is a lesson to be learned here as I enjoy this medium roast. No matter what life throws at you, keep getting up, be courteous, continue to grow, and bring out your best each day.
Best of luck in your and success and keep bringing amazing food to the Tacoma Park residents and beyond. If you are in the DC area and want to check them out, here is the link the-girl-the-vine.square.site .
